Xola_and_the_Huehuetl.jpgMonique Orozco, has been a danzante for 13 years and has led Danza Temachtia Quetzalcoatl- resident danza circle for Tia Chucha's Centro- for the past 10 years. Danza TQ has taken part in ceremonies from San Jose, Ca., to Tijuana, Mexico and annually participates in community events, marches, MeChA conferences and celebrations all year round. Mother of two, a Special Educator and  Peace and Dignity organizer for the San Fernando Valley, Monique leads the danza in a community- conscious manner, welcoming families and individuals alike. Jeffery Martin, Open Mic Co-Host, Poet, storyteller, author of six books, uses life experiences as his inspiration behind what he shares with the world.  His first book “Weapon of Choice” won the 2008 New Jersey Beach Book Festival for Best Book of Poetry. Mr. Martin has been very active in community, founding the theatre group B.E.H.O.L.D. for inner city youth in Rochester, New York, where youth were introduced to poetry, dance, martial arts, fencing, theatre, drumming, clowning, acrobatics, art, ceramics and public speaking.  He believes that words can be a source of strength and healing, using his life as an example.  He is currently employed by LAUSD and works with children with special needs. Alex.jpgAlexandra Hohmann, In The Words of Womyn (ITWOW) Facilitator, is a San Fernando Valley native, high school English teacher, and published poet. As an active member of the Los Angeles literary scene, she believes in the power of language and art to build community. Gloria Brill, Reiki Healing Sessions Facilitator, is a healing practitioner. Her modalities include energy healing and guided individual/group meditation.
