Breaking Bread

Breaking Bread Food Giveaway is an initiative of People in Action for Community. The name comes from the work of the Black & Brown Justice Alliance, including leaders such as Alex Sanchez and Skip Townsend, who have organized Breaking Bread Food Giveaways in South Los Angeles, Pico Union, Koreatown, and other communities. Breaking Bread in Pacoima of the Northeast San Fernando Valley is being held every Thursday afternoon at Humphrey Park, near the San Fernando Gardens Housing Projects. We have several palettes of food from Helping Hands, a nonprofit organization helping feed the poor. Community volunteers help put these foods in boxes and bags to give out free to the community. Please donate--we pay for the food and delivery. Every donation helps. We do what the government often fails to do. We try to fill the deep gaps in food and other needs. PAC includes organizations like our fiscal agency, Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore as well as La Raza Unida, Somos Familia Valle, Pacoima Historical Society, Tia Chucha's Young Warriors, Heroes for Life, and others.
