Greetings from Puerto Rico 3.0

An in-person event at Tia Chucha's. (Masks required)
In Greetings from Puerto Rico 3.0, a new work by L.A.-based playwright Rick Mitchell, a crypto hustler from Florida arrives in San Juan to fleece the converted, although his multi-million dollar scam faces stiff resistance once Bad Bunny gets involved. While featuring street protests, struggles for (solar) power, and Puerto Rican percussion, Greeting from Puerto Rico 3.0 grapples with today's crypto colonization and privatization of the island--until the tables are turned. Sort of. Presented as a staged-reading, in which performers will hold their scripts, the play will feature a professional, primarily Latinx cast of actors and musicians.
Rick Mitchell is an award-winning dramatist whose published plays and play collections include Brecht in L.A., Disaster Capitalism; or Money Can't Buy You Love, The Composition of Herman Melville, and Ventriloquist: Two Plays. He is Professor of English & Playwriting at CSUN.
