ARTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (FOR STUDENTS)

The Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program provides 10-week, full-time paid summer internships to eligible undergraduate college students.

BOOKSTORE INTERN

The Bookstore Intern will gain knowledge and first-hand experience regarding how a nonprofit arts organization with a small business component brings resources and access to an underserved community. Supervised by the Bookstore Manager, the intern will provide administrative and project assistance to Bookstore staff. The intern’s primary responsibilities will relate to assisting with the creation of an updated business plan, grant research, and outreach/marketing support for Bookstore, providing opportunities to broaden skills important to nonprofit sustainability such as relationship-building, writing, and small business development. <br/>

QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred applicant will have strong research, writing, communication, organizational and project management skills. Be able to work with a team as well as independently and focus amidst a great deal of activity. Be proactive, enthusiastic, resourceful, detail-oriented and mission-driven. Have proficient computer and internet skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google tools, and various forms of Social Media including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and web design experience is a plus. Be available for occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed. Must have access to their own working vehicle, valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Must be able to represent themselves and Tia Chucha’s with confidence, and maintain the utmost discretion working with confidential material.

GRANTS & FUNDRAISING INTERN

The Grants & Fundraising Intern will gain knowledge and first-hand experience regarding how a nonprofit arts organization functions to bring resources to an underserved community. The intern’s primary responsibilities will relate to organizing a successful silent auction for Tia Chucha’s annual fundraiser, an aspect of our strategic plan for building organizational infrastructure support and the center’s arts-based community programming. Supervised by the Development Director, the intern will provide administrative and project assistance to development staff. <br/>
