Gustavo Jiménez

Gustavo Jiménez, Board Member, is a professor of Chicano Studies at L.A. Mission College, was born in Mexico City and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He earned his B.A. in History with an emphasis on World History from California State University, Northridge, followed by an M.A. in History focusing on Mexican American and Latin American studies. Initially joining L.A. Mission College as an adjunct professor in 2005, Profé Jiménez advanced to a full-time tenure-track position in 2023.
A dynamic leader in the Chicano Studies Department, he organizes numerous campus and district-wide webinars and lectures, including events commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Zoot Suit Riots and Latin Alternative Music showcases. He champions educational accessibility through his leadership of the department's Open Educational Resources (OER) and Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) initiatives, developing free, high-quality materials for all Chicano Studies courses at L.A. Mission College.
Beyond the classroom, Profé Jiménez is an avid traveler who enthusiastically attends concerts and sporting events whenever possible.
