trauma to transformation

Tía Chucha's Trauma to Transformation program envisions youth and adults who have been impacted by incarceration as an empowered community who can reshape their narrative to one of growth, creativity, and healing. We aim to facilitate creative and brave spaces that bring us together to build community.

our programs

Transformarte: Reentry through the Arts

Under the direction of teaching artist and mentor Kesau'c Hill, we offer healing circles for our Tranform[Arte] Re Entry Through the Arts program at Tía Chucha's Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Transform[Arte] is a space dedicated to embrace individuals who have experienced incarceration. The space will be open for groups to explore the arts, organizing and leadership development, as well as support with ancestral knowledge practices. The program brings guest artists, organizers, and healers from a wide walks of life to offer windows of their worlds.

Arts in Correction: Creative Writing Program

Under the direction of teaching artist Alejandro Molina (MFA) and with the support of Freddie Chavez, we offer a Creative Healing class at the California Institution for Men in Chino, California. It is here where our facilitating team, along with the participants, create a supportive environment for all to be creative, and express themselves through writing.

Youth Programs

As a member organization of the Arts for Healing and Justice Network, we offer programs in creative expression, ancestral knowledge, and mentoring throughout LA County's Probation Camps and Juvenile Halls. In addition to this, we have been guest artists within schools in the community such as Cesar E Chavez Learning Academies, as well as public parks such as the Ourspot Program at El Cariso Park.
