Inez Woods

Guitar

Inez Woods (she/her), aka Mz Inez, was born & raised in New York City. Although extremely close to her family, she moved to L.A. to pursue a career in her two passions, Music and Youth Education. As a singer/songwriter and guitarist, Inez, along with multi instrumentalist Gloria Estrada founded Finger Dancers. The Blues & Jazz musical duo proudly released their 1st CD of original songs entitled Finger Dancers, The Living Room Sessions in 2017. Inez received her B.A. in Education and a teaching degree from Cal Poly Pomona. She pursued a certification in children’s music and is a recipient of the Early Childhood Music Education Scholarship Award from Pasadena City College. Inez’s devotion to teaching has led her to various community centers such as The William Grant Still Arts Center, El Nido Family Center, Lincoln Heights Youth Art Center and her first love, Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural, where she has taught for over 10 years. Inez notes that “Watching students’ faces light up when they make a musical connection brings me a deep sense of joy!” She often donates her time and lessons to kids without access to music, which explains a wall plaque prominently displayed in her home that reads, ‘Teaching…not in it for the income…but for the outcome!” Inez also continues her own musical studies through private lessons as she believes learning is a lifelong adventure.
